Keep Track of Your Microsoft 365 User Accounts

Jacob Brodd Jacob Brodd

It just got easier to stay on top of your Microsoft 365 users. With new tables and reports in vScope, you now get a ready-made overview of accounts, permissions and licenses – without manual data collection.

We know that many IT departments struggle to keep track of their Microsoft 365 users.
Who has access to what? Which accounts are actually in use? Which ones should be closed or “paused”? And who in the organization really knows whether a specific account is still needed?

In the latest update of vScope, we’ve tried to tackle these challenges by packaging new, ready-to-use content that gives you and your team a clear overview of all M365 accounts. Our goal is to provide daily, customized updates and insights about all the important configurations in Microsoft 365 – in one place, without manual effort.

Common challenges we see in organizations

This summer, we’ve talked to several vScope users about their everyday work with Microsoft 365.
A clear pattern is that administration often takes more time and effort than it should – and that important risks can easily be overlooked. Here are some of the most common issues we’ve heard about:

  • Excessive permissions: Administrators with more rights than they actually need.
  • “Ghost accounts”: Old accounts that are still active and can be misused.
  • Over-licensing: Paying for licenses that no one is using.
  • Time-consuming troubleshooting: When logins fail, it often takes too long to find out why.

What’s new in vScope

Based on these insights and the problem areas we identified, we created new content (tables, dashboards and analyses) using data from vScope’s discovery. Almost all of this data comes from Microsoft 365 (Azure), with a few tables enriched with additional data from other sources in vScope, such as Active Directory.

  • A list of all global administrators, including contact details.
  • An overview of failed login attempts and from where they occurred.
  • Quick insight into which accounts are inactive or locked.
  • A complete table of all users, their groups and reporting structure.

Why this matters

The new content in vScope isn’t just about saving time in the day-to-day work of those managing Microsoft 365 – even if that’s an important part of it.
The bigger purpose is to reduce risks across the whole organization. To be able to demonstrate control, improve security, and cut costs by not paying for unused licenses.

With vScope, you and your team now get daily updated content about your Microsoft 365 environment. It’s easy to overview, easy to customize, and easy to share with others.

Try it yourself

If your company or organization already uses vScope and subscribes to the Cloud Spend module, this content is available right on your start screen.

Log in to vScope and explore the new features – or book a demo and we’ll walk you through how it works.

Good luck!
